Professional Tree Removals Service

Our team are specialists in the felling and dismantling of trees, and we can take on jobs where they are in an awkward or confined space. For all removals, we use cutting-edge roping techniques and winches to achieve an accurate directional fell. For more challenging situations we use cranes and hydraulic platforms.

Although our goal is primarily tree conservation, sometimes removing a tree is what the situation calls for. And where possible, the timber is recycled and made good use of for fire wood, for eco piles for insect habitats or even made into garden furniture.

Whether you need our emergency service or you would like one removed from your land or garden, we can help. As it is a high stakes operation, we always make sure all of our tree removal Northampton operations are carried out with a strict focus on safety and security.

Reasons for Tree Felling and Removal

There are several reasons why a tree may need to be felled and removed and, although the decision to proceed lies with the customer, our tree removal Northampton team are available to work through the options and the process with you and estimate costs. The most common reasons for tree removals that we're hired for include:

  • Creating more garden space
  • Removing sight restriction of a view
  • Roots encroaching on property foundations
  • The tree is diseased beyond saving or has died
  • Obstructing structures or building plans
  • The tree is causing damage in some way

Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) & Licensing

It will not always be your decision to fell or remove a tree, even if it is on your property. If your tree is under a tree preservation order (TPO) then it is legally protected against being removed. Also, there are occasions when a felling licence is needed, and this includes if a tree is based outside of a private garden or a commercial site. In these cases a licence must have been applied for and issued before any procedure is carried out.

If a TPO is in place for a tree removal Northampton local authority will need to be contacted. Our staff can undertake a full planning process as part of our service to confirm if a license is required, and we can also assist you with the often arduous task of finding out if a TPO is in place and the subsequent Local Authority applications to carry out tree work if there is a TPO in place.

Tree Felling Methods

There are two techniques that we deploy for tree removals, and that are most common. The first is 'straight' and the other is 'sectional' felling. Straight felling is only possible if there’s a large and unobstructed space around the site because it involves the tree actually falling but in a controlled way. A notch is cut at the base of the trunk to determine the direction of the fall, then a 'felling cut' is made and the tree falls, directed to the ground in one go. 'Sectional felling' is the more common but time-intensive technique whereby a skilled arborist is harnessed to the tree, and proceeds to safely cut sections that are carefully lowered down using rigging and lowering techniques to avoid damage below. so that the tree is removed bit by bit. Sectional felling is very effective in bringing a tree to ground level in a restricted space and is the safest option for most cases for domestic customers and in public spaces.
